Add Carers Portal to your home screen¶
There is no app to download from an app store — Carers Portal runs in your phone's web browser. You can still put an icon on your home screen so it opens with one tap, just like an app.
You need to use Safari for this.
- Open Safari and go to carersportal.me.
- Tap the Share button — a square with an arrow pointing up. It is at the bottom of the screen on iPhone and at the top on iPad. On newer iPhones you may need to tap ••• first to find it.
- Scroll down the list and tap Add to Home Screen. If you cannot see it, tap Edit Actions or View More at the bottom of the list.
- Leave the name as Carers Portal (or change it) and tap Add.
These steps are for Chrome, the usual browser on Android.
- Open Chrome and go to carersportal.me.
- Tap the ⋮ menu (three dots) at the top right.
- Tap Add to home screen (on some phones this is called Install app). If it asks, choose Install.
- Tap Install or Add, then either drag the icon where you want it or tap Add again to place it automatically.
Using Samsung Internet?
Tap the ≡ menu at the bottom, then Add page to → Home screen.
The Carers Portal icon now sits on your home screen. Tap it to open the portal.
Do I have to sign in every time?¶
No. The icon opens the same portal as your browser, so you stay signed in on that phone until you choose Sign out or have been away for a long time — see Staying signed in.
If the phone is shared, always sign out when you finish, even when you opened the portal from the home screen.
I can't see "Add to Home Screen"¶
- iPhone: make sure you are in Safari. Some other browsers on iPhone do not offer it.
- Android: update Chrome from the Play Store and try again.
- Still stuck? You can bookmark carersportal.me instead, or ask a question.
Removing the icon¶
Press and hold the icon, then choose Remove App / Delete Bookmark (iPhone) or Remove (Android). This only removes the shortcut — your account and records are not affected.
